Being a devote follower of Nurgle I had to pick up the newest Ebook from Black Library featuring the renowned Plague Herald himself , Typhus.
I haven't ever been a a huge fan of short stories but I really had some questions about plague marines in the fluff. I mean in some books they are portrayed as speechless moaning drones that shamble at their opponent trying to dismember them. I get the zombie motif that they were aiming for with the Death Guard but I assumed that they still had consciousness and could formulate their elaborate plans. How does Typhus take over a planet if he cant operate a data slate?! Luckily I find out my favorite follower of Nurgle only has his armor decayed and not his brain.
So this is the first story that I have read about Typhus post heresy and it seems that he is full of bitterness and hatred for his former allegiance. Typhus's drive at this point just seems to be a conduit for Nurgle's will but maybe that was the price to pay for his amazing ascension from Astartes to Herald. Eventually Nurgle whispers sweet nothings into Typhus's ear and tells him he wants this glorious faithful Imperial shrine world so on comes the herald of death alone. It really shows are incredibly powerful the forces of Chaos are as Typhus swats asides the forces protecting the world and forces his will on this people. The guardsmen are impotent in the face of Typhus having no real chance of even hurting him. Typhus rein of death goes into full force after he meets the Arch Exorcist Vandis who he blesses with the gifts of Nurgle. And as we all know the gifts of Nurgle only keep on giving. A planet of 2 billion as a tribute to Nurgle, one fine day for the Herald of the Plague God.
Hopefully my Typhus will bring the pain on the tabletop as Black Library Typhus can. The Ebook was a really quick read but it was enjoyable as a quick glimpse into the actions of an important figure in 40k lore.
VERY COOL man, great job painting!
